The Holy Birth Almost done

This is what I have until now, they're almost done, I think the black is kind too dark for Mary, But silly me forgot to order some dark brown before so I just did it will be waiting is arrive before the end of this month, other way  I'll have to work with this black. I need to darn on the baby's hair too its too light.

Close up of Baby Jesus

Just to show how tiny is this baby, Its the smallest I ever made, here compare with the size of my hand and even my hand are small, my little fingers fit size 5 o 6 on rings, hard to find for me :(

Back to OOAK Sculpting...

I wanted to be on time for the "Mother and Baby" contest on the IADR, so My inspirations this time was the Birth of our Lord Jesus, now I'm working in this piece the Virgin Mary and the baby Jesus. Yeah Mary has a well detailed body as you can see, but she will be wearing clothes.

My little Sony CyberShot doesn't really take good night pictures, its either to much light or too dark, buy anyway at least you an see more colors and details in the dark pics:

BJDolls Finally Finished

And Overall they ended up looking great, but there was such bad news, this Air dry Porcelain still not strong enough to hold on the pressure, afterwords the BJD Convention, the trip and so two of the Doll start cracking on the nee, so that was the end of this cause I'm not going for working with real porcelain, neater resin its expensive and toxic, what I can do in the end is fix or reinforce the joints with epoxy (witch seems to be a lot more harder)  and these aren't a playful Dolls at all so I hope will be able to sell them to the OOAK Art Doll Collectors.

It was a fun adventure trough, I have to say, lots of work, I did enjoy the conference a lot, now I need to get soooo bad a BJD hehehe I just totally felt in love with them.

And well no more word but pictures hehehe:

I made this one for a Contest on the Show "Doll and Owner Alike" my Little niece help me with this and guess what? we won!!

This is the last Update I'll be busy on the weekend, two days of Craft Show, maybe I'll take my Dolls to work on there, but here is the last pic, think I over work with the pink shades?? and I'm not sure of painting her feminines parts, as they will be porcelain I'm not intent to offer these as Children Toys, so I don't know about that.

I'm Back!!!

Yeahhh, That was a nice week vacation... really Hawaii? once you're there man! your don't want to come back LOL. We have such fun, nice tan and by the way make some friends like this cute little one:

An adorable young Monk Seal, rare to see, we were very lucky!! We saw them 3 times!

And anyway, back to California... back to work buahhh... Sure it is!
I'm back to my BJD, before I left I have already finished with the last mold, so they were drying all week, now I just pick, clean, maybe sand a little bit and star using them.
It was a lot hard to make the hands, the slip has a little bit of smell, but until today I got to cast the first Doll and an extra head (I made 4 heads total) working all day just in that...

Looking good so far uh? I'm using and Air Dry porcelain slip but manufacturer recommend to bake it a 200 F for about 4 to 6 hours, I didn't got to do that today will do it tomorrow for sure and make another body and heads of course... Did I mention that I got to make a double joint body? Well yes I have (wasn't really expected, but a last second thing hehe) I may be working those molds tomorrow.
